The Spanish ConquestNazca
The Nazca lines, in the southern Pacific desert of Peru, were thought to have been created at least 1,500 years ago. Since the rediscovery of the lines in the 1930s, many diverse theories have been posited in attempt to explain their origins. As to the actual procedure in constructing these lines, there has never been much of a question. Most of the argument revolves around the overseeing of the construction,-such as with primitive hot air balloons-and the use of the lines themselves; one example being the astronomical alignment of celestial bodies. The majority of the lines are in the form of various animals and insects such as birds, monkeys, and spiders. It has been thought, by scientists such as Maria Reiche and Dr. Paul Kosok that the lines are the largest astronomy book in the world, in that some of them can be traced in proportion to particular star alignments
