Turquoise: Turquoise is believed to have originated from the French word, Turquie which means Turkish Stone in the mistaken belief that that it came from Turkey.
Throughout history Turquoise has been used as an amulet of protection to ward of evil and was also seen as a symbol of wealth in many cultures. In ancient Persia, it was worn as a protection against unnatural death. The Aztecs considered Turquoise a holy stone and adorned their ceremonial masks with it. The Apache are said to have believed that Turquoise assisted warriors and hunters to aim accurately and the Zuni believed it protected them from evil spirits.
Color: It occurs naturally in all shades ranging from sky blue to grey-green. Typically, the deeper the blue, the more highly valued. An even texture, without veins or spiderwebs, is also preferred. In Southwest jewelry, however, the turquoise with the spider web matrix has been considered the rarest and most valued.

Zodiac or Magical Birthstone: Excellent with Sagittarius and Scorpio. Considered a Universal Stone.
Signification: Used for protection, luck and healing. It's said to also aid in relaxation and meditation.
